Air India- this first major domestic airline in the country started its operations in 1953. Air India is the national flag carrier of India flying to 28 destinations. Founded in 1932 as Tata Airlines, Air India has a primary hub in Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport and with secondary hubs in Indira Gandhi International Airport and Chennai International Airport. Jet Airways- with more than 400 daily flights to 64 destinations, Jet Airways is the largest domestic airline and the second largest international airline in the country. Kingfisher Airlines- it is one of the most well known luxury airlines in India based in the bustling metropolis of Bangalore. The airline operates 218 flights every day with a network of 38 destinations. Kingfisher Airlines was founded in 2004 wherein its hubs are in Bengaluru International Airport, Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and Indira Gandhi International Airport. Jet Lite- one of the leading domestic airlines in the country that was formerly known as Air Sahara. Jet Lite also provides helicopters that are available for charter services and aerial photography. Chennai International Airport, Sardar Vallabhbai Patel International Airport and Netaji Subhash Chandara Bose International Airport are its focus cities. The airline flies to 28 destinations in and outside the country like Nepal and Sri Lanka. GoAir- this domestic airline operates domestic passenger services to 11 cities with Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is its main headquarters. GoAir is a low cost airline established in November 2005 that is owned by the Wadia Group of Bombay Dyeing fame. Spice Jet- formerly known as Royal Airways, Spice Jet is a low cost airline that flies to 14 different destinations in the country including Delhi, Mumbai, Guwahati, Chennai, Bangalore and Goa. Spice Jet has headquarter in New Delhi, India. |
